About ORRA

Looking after Ōpoutere and Ohui since 1961

The Ōpoutere Ratepayers and Residents Association has represented the Ōpoutere and Ohui community since 1961. We work to protect the natural environment and distinctive character of this place, and to ensure the community has a strong voice in the decisions that affect it.

What we do

ORRA takes an active interest in the issues that shape Ōpoutere and Ohui — from protecting the natural environment and coastal landscape to planning, development, infrastructure and the interests of the wider community.

We engage with councils, government agencies and other organisations, make submissions where necessary, support local initiatives and keep members informed about matters that affect the area.

A voice for the community

ORRA provides a collective voice for people who care about Ōpoutere and Ohui. Our strength comes from an informed and engaged membership, particularly when decisions are being made that could have lasting consequences for the area.

We aim to be constructive, independent and evidence-based — supporting positive change while standing up for the things that make this place distinctive.

Our committee

ORRA is run by a volunteer committee elected by its members. Committee members bring different perspectives and experience, but share a commitment to protecting the interests of Ōpoutere and Ohui and the people who care about them.
